If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been touring Asia this summer.
We kicked things off in Beijing (Check out my guide for first-timers here) followed by a two-day hike at Gubeikou along the Great Wall where I learned how to make dumplings from scratch—a total chef's kiss moment.
Then, it was off to Shanghai. While there, I picked up a new favorite habit: grabbing a cocktail and a snack before heading back to the hotel. To me, it’s such a great way to meet people and really experience the city. Below, you’ll find a roundup of my top spots to sip, snack, and soak up the local vibe—I’m definitely keeping this tradition alive everywhere I go.

BAR NO.3
277 Xingguo Rd, Xuhui District
Average cost: 180 CNY (23 Euros) per person
My favourite of the list! I loved the ambiance, the people, and the lighting. They release 12 original craft cocktails each season, and they were delicious—the snacks were great too, especially the cold noodles. Be sure to make a reservation and request a spot at the main bar; it's always entertaining to watch them in action.
Try: Digging Peaches, Firmess After Flashes
Sichuan Citizen
2/F, No.378 Wukang Road
Average cost: 100 CNY (12 Euros) per person
A great spot I’d recommend for dinner with friends. The food was honest, yummy and budget-friendly.
Try: Sichuan Mule, Basil drop Martini
Mercato by Jean-Georges
6F, Three on the Bund, No. 3. Zhong Shan Dong Yi Road
Average cost: 400 CNY (50 Euros) per person
It might seem a bit unexpected to have Italian food in Shanghai, but after two weeks in China, we were really craving it—and it did not disappoint. The place was packed with locals, and the food and drinks were amazing. Be sure to ask for a table by the window to enjoy views of the Bund.
Try: Lemon Drop, Mercato Negroni
The Shanghai EDITION
199 Nanjing Road East, Huangpu
Average cost: 200 CNY (25 Euros) per person
On our first night in Shanghai, we were craving a familiar spot to unwind. The Edition’s Punch Room felt like conquered territory. Make sure to book ahead, as it’s quite small, and ask for a table by the window to enjoy the Shanghai skyline.
Try: Stellar Fiz, Shanghai Milk Punch
AVENUE JOFFRE BAR
1F Building 5 Surpass Court, 570 Yongjia Rd, Xuhui District
Average cost: 170 CNY(21 Euros)per person
A chic Japanese bar with a traditional approach to cocktails. Excellent Japanese service in an intimate setting that resembles an English members club. It’s best to go from Thursday to Saturday when it’s buzzing.
Try: Never Give Up, Magnolia Blossom
COA
313 Jiaozhou Rd, Jing'an District
Average cost: 270 CNY (35 Euros) per person
Housed in a three-story brick building, COA is a cozy space with a comfortable terrace and eight signature cocktails to try.
